ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the applications of standardized patients teaching method in clin-ical practice teaching effect for students majoring in rehabilitation therapy in the course of occupation therapy. Methods The 2013 classes of rehabilitation therapy specialty in our college were selected as the subjects of study in the two groups. Group 1 was taught by the traditional teaching method, while group 2 was taught by the standardized patients (SP) teaching method. After learning, we made an analysis of two groups through the form of theory questions, practical operation and the questionnaire to assess the teaching efficacy. Measurement data using two sample mean t-test after SPSS 13.0 software for statistical analysis. Results The scores of skills test and questionnaire in students taught by SP teaching method is signifi-cantly higher than those in students taught by traditional teaching method (P<0.05). In the theoretical exami-nation, the SP teaching group outperformed the traditional teaching group, but the difference was not statis-tically significant. Conclusion In occupation therapy application, SP teaching is superior to traditional teaching in improving students' ability of analysis and judgment, operation skill and communication level, which can be extended to other clinical courses of rehabilitation therapy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture plus auricular point sticking in treating polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Method A total of 80 PCOS patients were randomly divided into a treatment group of 40 cases and a control group of 40 cases. The treatment group was intervened by acupuncture plus auricular point sticking, while the control group was intervened by acupuncture only. The clinical efficacy was observed in the two groups after 3 treatment courses. Result The menstrual condition and basal body temperature (BBT) were compared in the two groups before and after the treatment. The menstrual condition and BBT in the treatment group were significantly improved (P<0.01); the menstrual condition was improved (P<0.05) and the BBT condition was significantly improved in the control group (P<0.01). The total effective rate was 82.5% in the treatment group, significantly different from that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture plus auricular point sticking can produce a satisfactory efficacy in treating PCOS.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of auricular point therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome. Methods Eighty patients with chronic fatigue syndrome were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups, 40 cases each. The treatment group received ear acupuncture plus auricular plaster therapy and the control group, conventional acupuncture. The overall symptom was scored, the Fatigue Assessment Instrument (FAI) score was recorded and immunoglobulins (IgA, IgG and IgM) were measured in the two groups before treatment and after four courses. Results There were statistically significant pre-/post-treatment differences in the overall symptom score, the FAI score and immunoglobulins in the two groups (P<0.05). There were statistically significant post-treatment differences in the FAI score, and IgA and IgG between the treatment and control groups (P<0.05). Conclusion Auricular point therapy is an effective way to treat chronic fatigue syndrome.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To study the effect of exercise training on the expression of Caspase-3 and IL-1β in rats with focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion.Methods Seventy rats were recruited in this study and randomly divided into 4 groups: sham operation group, ischemic reperfusion group, ischemic reperfusion group with 10 min exercise per day, and ischemic reperfusion group with 30 min exercise per day. The exercise training was swimming training daily after the operation. Results Six months after training the Caspase-3 and IL-1β in ischemic cerebral tissue with 30 min was lower than that in ischemic reperfusion group(P<0.05). Conclusion Exercise training may improve the functional recovery of extremities in rats with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion, and the mechanism was related to decrease the expression of poisonous factors.
